| Ski lessons and equipment rental
Charlotte Swift of www.easiski.com is an
excellent teacher and comes highly recommended. She is very reasonably priced,
and because she will only take private lessons or very small groups of
similar ability, she can take your rubbish style to pieces in brutal
fashion before rebuilding you as a skier better than you would have imagined
(this is my personal experience and I know a lot of people who all say
the same thing). You'll be glad you booked a lesson or a course with her,
believe me!
Pascal and Florence run the Sport
Emotion ski hire shop, about 50yds from the apartment (turn left out of the
building and it's on the left hand side). I've got an
"arrangement" which equals a fairly hefty discount for you. Email me
at paul.mckinnell@ukf.net and I'll forward
you more details. Their website is www.2alpes-sportemotion.com
Lift passes:
You can buy your lift passes either on-line
at www.les2alpes.com, in resort
at the main lift station (the Jandri Express) or at the Tourist Office on
the roundabout as you enter the resort. A six day whole area pass costs €189
this season (a modest €7 price rise on 2009/10), and no longer requires a
passport size photograph. The six day pass entitles you to free use of the
indoor/outdoor swimming pool, ice rink (you have to pay a token fee for the
skate hire, though), and gives you decent discounts on other activities in the
resort. In addition, 6-day pass holders can ski for 2 days at Alpe
d'Huez/Oz en Oisans/Vaujany, as well as having a day at Serre Chevalier or even
the enormous Via Lattea ski area over the border in Italy! When the snowcat
link over the glacier is operating, you can also ski La Grave free of charge.
Much cheaper passes are available for just the beginners slopes in the town, and
the south-facing "sunny side" of the valley. For complete novices, there are a
number of free lifts on the nursery slopes, which can make for a considerable
saving if it's your first week.
